There are 10 million people in the UK who live with a neurological disease like the ones we have listed above – maybe someone you know. In fact, there are actually more than 250 neurological conditions and at any time of our lives any of us could be struck down by one of them.

The Brain Research Trust (BRT) was founded in 1971 to promote and support research and investigation into diseases and conditions affecting the brain. Money donated to the BRT does not pay for help lines or carers. It is used to support research undertaken at UCL’s Institute of Neurology (IoN), Queen Square, London. There are more than 300 employees at the IoN whose sole aim is to understand these debilitating – often fatal - conditions and find cures.

You could help The Brain Research Trust fund neurological research:

Join one of our exciting overseas events. One that is coming up soon is:

Indian Adventures, 24 October-3 November 2007:

A choice of two ways of visiting this diverse and spectacular country, both ending at the iconic Taj Mahal.  Either cycle across the world’s oldest mountain range and combine exhilarating ascents and descents with some time offroad and fabulous scenery; OR trek at an altitude of 3,000 metres through the mountain villages of the kingdom of Gaadi and the home of Dalai Lama.

Take part in an event held in the UK:

If you’d like to do something a bit closer to home, we have places in the following runs: the Adidas Half Marathon at Silverstone (22 April), the Edinburgh Marathon (10 June), the London 10K (1 July), the London Triathlon (4 & 5 August), the “Hydro Active Women’s Challenge”, a 5 km run (or walk) in Hyde Park, London (3 September) and the Great North Run (1 October).

Or, why not organise your own fundraising event such as a pub quiz, a sponsored chest wax, a wedding anniversary celebration, a friendly football match or a coffee morning?

Whichever event you decide to do, you’ll receive a fundraising pack full of ideas to help you to raise your sponsorship, a Brain Research Trust T-shirt and the full support of the BRT staff!
